Teacher Questionnaire

*This was originally posted last year.  I just updated it to include a link to the free printable Teacher Questionnaire (colored version) at the bottom.  Enjoy!

Today we have Meet the Teacher with Nolan's first grade teacher.  This will give us an opportunity to find Nolan's new classroom, learn a little about his teacher, and formulate expectations for how this school year will go.

I also want to give his teacher a questionnaire to find out all of her favorites.  That way I will have a better idea of what to get her for Christmas, her birthday, and Teacher Appreciation.

Last year I used this printable questionnaire because it is just so cute.  However, I wanted to include a few more questions this year.  I searched the internet for other teacher questionnaires, and I combined questions from four different ones to make my own comprehensive grill-the-teacher sheet.

I just typed mine in Microsoft Word.  Oh, how I wish I had graphic design skills to make mine as cute as the one I used last year!  The best I could do was use different fonts and a few colors.

I also made a black only version:

*Update:  I think I figured out how to link to a free printable. :)  Click here to print the colored version of the Teacher Questionnaire.  Let me know if it works!

Happy new school year!

Jessica

  1. I love this!! I have mentally been composing a similiar list for Jaxon's kdg teacher for a year now (never can be TOO prepared, right?). I had one parent do this for me when I taught and it was so special. Sometimes she would show up at school first thing in the morning with a Starbucks in her hand - just because. It always feels good to be recognized and remembered, but sometimes teachers don't get it as much as they deserve. You are so awesome to think of Nolan's teacher and want to encourage her and put a smile on her face.

Something else some people don't realize is that teachers are, in a way, "trapped" at school for 7+ hours each day. Where most jobs have the flexibility to take an hr lunch and spend that hr at home, getting groceries, or relaxing at a restaurant, teachers are (often) forced to spend lunch at school. Our lunch "hour" was 20 minutes. That's barely enough time to: get the kids situated in the cafeteria, go to the teacher's lounge and find your lunch (last night's leftovers) in the fridge, wait for a microwave to empty, heat lunch for 5 minutes, find an empty chair...by then I often had 7 minutes to inhale dried out chicken and mushy vegetables before heading back to the cafeteria to pick up my class! It was life-changing when a mom would email me first thing in the morning and say: I'm bringing you Panera for lunch today, what do you want?

You rock Momma!! I hope all your readers are inspired to make a difference in their children's teacher's lives. And you know what? Those kids/parents who took time to appreciate and build a relationship with me, we still keep in touch! I was invited to several high school graduation parties this past spring, I had a mom email me a few weeks ago that her son is having a rough time at basic training for the Air Force Academy and would love some encouraging words from his 4th grade teacher, and a former kiddo called me Sun night terrified about starting her first year of college and wanted some advice/encouragement. You plant the seeds and you just never know...

  20. LOVE these! Could I please get a link for each one. My younger daughter would like the color questionnaire but my older daughter would think it's too "kidish" so I'd like the black one for her. Thank you so much for sharing :-)
